Vietnam factories reopen for production – V-Trust

V-Trust – Supply Chain Management, Factory Audit and Quality Control Services in Asia

Welcome to V-Trust Newsletter! This week, we are bringing two pieces of news to you about Vietnam: one is good and the other is bad.

It’s been three weeks since the complete lockdown in Vietnam ended on September 30. Can the factories deliver the goods soon enough to catch the Christmas season?

The good news is that the Vietnamese government has abandoned the „Zero Covid” approach and is carrying out a policy to safely reopen the economy. Due to this favorable policy for trading, cargo shipping is currently running smoothly in all provinces.

And the bad news is that the factories are facing the challenge of manpower shortage when resuming operation. “It will take a few more weeks, or even months for the production capacity to resume to its normal level.” said Hue Man Au, lead auditor of V-Trust Vietnam.

Having visited several factories recently, we find that many workers cannot return to work yet due to below factors,

One of the reopening conditions the factories are required to follow is that employees must have completed the full 2-dose vaccine course at least 14 days before returning to work or have recovered from Covid-19 within 6 months.

Many workers chose to go back to their hometowns when lockdown was implemented to see their families.

Not all the bus companies have resumed the intercity bus services. Meanwhile, the number of passengers per bus shouldn’t exceed 50% of the bus’s capacity. This restriction is causing some difficulties for factory workers from North and Central Vietnam to return to major manufacturing cities.

V-Trust Vietnam Team can provide below support to buyers:

  • Quality Control – The locally based inspectors can visit the factories to check if the goods produced are with satisfactory quality, without defects caused by material stored in warehouse during monsoon or unskillful workers.
  • Factory Audit – V-Trust auditors can visit your suppliers’ factory sites to understand how much of the production has resumed to normal.

That’s all for now, and as always, stay tuned.
